Im Yoon Ah Shares Her Thoughts on The Tyrant's Chef Ending

Im Yoon Ah, who has become a reliable ratings magnet, expressed her genuine astonishment and joy at the consistent positive response.

"Since the ratings have been good every episode, I’ve been surprised every day and every week. Ratings feel like something beyond my control, so I didn’t have any specific expectations. I never imagined such a big response and result," She shared, quoted from NAVER.

The finale itself provided a conclusive, happy ending for the central couple. After being injured, Yeon Ji Young wakes up in a modern-day hospital and resumes her chef career, ingeniously incorporating historical recipes from her past adventures into her new menu. The story reaches its emotional peak when she is finally reunited with King Lee Heon, who has somehow found his way to the present day. Their love story is beautifully sealed with a heartfelt hug and a kiss.

However, some viewers felt the narrative didn't fully explain the mechanics of the King's time travel, leaving them with a sense of an open-ended conclusion despite the overt happiness.

Regarding this ending, Im Yoon Ah voiced her full satisfaction, viewing it as an ideal resolution.

"I’m satisfied. I think it’s the ending everyone dreams of. It seems like a beautiful conclusion," she stated.

When probed about the potential for continuing the story, she added, "I haven’t heard anything about season 2 yet. If the story continues and all the actors can come back together, I would love to do it."

I think the ending felt so fulfilling! her emotional depth as Yeon Ji Young was captivating. I cried during the reunion scene, it was perfectly executed

While the ending was beautifully dreamlike and satisfying emotionally, I must admit the time-travel logic felt a bit underdeveloped. How did Lee Heon actually get to the modern world? Still, Yoona’s performance made me believe in the fantasy….

So Yoona’s drama broke records? Not surprised, she’s always been a pro, but that time-travel ending felt a bit too convenient. Still, her acting saved it

Finally someone said it! Everyone’s so busy praising the beautiful ending, they’re ignoring the giant plot hole. It was pure convenience, no logic :face_with_monocle: Did the writers just give up?

Ah, I remember The Tyrant’s Chef! Got me inspired so I asked the wife to learn Korean cooking. You know what she said? “You’ll eat what I make, or you can fund my culinary degree in Seoul.” Fair point, I suppose! :joy:

Which scene hit you the hardest? For me, it was when Ji Young woke up in the hospital and realized her past wasn’t a dream

Mine was the kitchen scene, she found herself again.

I love how Yoon Ah talks about acting, wanting the audience to nod along with her characters. That’s exactly how I felt watching her here.

You’re right. But it’s weird how some people still say her acting isn’t good :expressionless_face: I don’t get what kind of hate they’re holding in their hearts.

Those ratings are insane, topping 20% in Seoul is no small feat. Yoona really proved she’s a true ratings queen
